200 Words – Toddler Moving Weekend
February 9, 2009 by: Brendan

My son now has his own “big boy” room. We made a trip to Ikea and found a great storage cabinet that fit perfectly in the back corner of his new room. It was a seventy-inch, vertical storage frame. We added a door to the top and four drawers to the bottom. The top half of the frame can be used for just about anything that will fit, but it’s the perfect height for toddler shirts, sweaters, and jackets. However, we found out that the clothes rail was not included. It’s a separate accessory, just like the door and drawers. As with most Ikea storage, there was plenty of assembly required. The frame itself was not too difficult to put together. The drawers, on the other hand, were a bit tedious. I didn’t mind, though, because everything was well-made, and the directions were simple enough to follow.
His captain’s bed was also taken apart, moved, and assembled in his new room. We were worried that he wouldn’t be able to fall asleep because it would feel different, but he acclimated himself almost right away. Next up is the baby’s room where we’ll be preparing the crib and doing some decorating.
